- There is a field in the town land of Clonberton called "Matthews Hill", it belonged to a man called Matthew Crinion in former years, that is the way it got its name. This man had a bag of gold, he had it hidden in the thatch of the house, the thatch was getting bad, and he was going to repair it, so he took it from there and dug a large hole in a gripe near the house and buried the gold in it.
he told none of his sons about it, and when he got old he forgot where he hid it.So the gold is there still and no one ever looked for it since. 2.
There is a bog in the town land of Breslanstown called "Yellow Moll". This bog got its name from a girl that had a yellow skin. There was a pan of gold hidden in this bog and this girl dreamt of the place it was hidden in, three nights in succession. The fourth night she went to the spot and started digging for it,when she had a large hole dug the bank fell in and killed her, so the gold is there still.- Collector
