  1. We had an epidemic of influenza about eighteen years ago and a large number of people died, in fact there were very few homes which did not lose one or more of their family. It was supposed to have been brought into the country by the soldiers.

  2. Not far from my house a hay shed was burned near Corstown. It is said somebody threw a lit match near it, which started the fire and it burned the whole shed of hay.This happened about four years ago.
