    "The Sand Field". It is called that because there is a sand pit in it.
    "The Madam's Field". It is called that because the lady that owned it was called madam.
    "The Mount Field". It is called that because there is a mount on it.
    The names of some of the fields around Greenan are as follows:
    "Smoke- Ally", it was so called because there were a number of houses in the field and when the smoke rose, the field would be covered with smoke.
    "lear na cailig"
    "The Fox Cover", it was called the fox cover because the field was covered with furze bushes and the foxes used to get cover there and the huntsmen used to come there regularly.
    "The Lime-Kiln" was so called because there was a lime kiln in that field.
    "The Wood -Hill" was so called because there was a wood on the top of the hill.
    "The Cow Bán" was so called because it was a good field for grazing milch cows. (Mary Byrne. G. school, 13)
    "The Chapel Field" was so called because there was a chapel on it.
