    lost a lot of feathers. The birds decided to give her a feather each. When the owl was asked to give a feather he refused and the wren was very vexed. He told all the other birds to peck out his eyes if he came out by day. That is the reason why the owl is not to be seen in the daytime.
    It is said the swallow comes back to the same place every yer to build her nest. The mother birds warn the young ones by screeching when the hawk is about.
