  1. The only custom surviving on St Brigid's Festival here is the making of St. Brigid's Crosses.
    On the eve of the feast these are made of straw or rushes. They measure about four to six inches square and are placed indoors, usually on the walls of the kitchen.
    Some use two sally rods and straw, others make them entirely of rushes.
