    Shamrock -
    is plucked the day before and is worn by men in their hats and by women in their coats.
    People believe that when the palm and shamrock are worn together Ireland will be free.
    A Four-leaved shamrock is considered lucky and is eagerly searched for before pinning it on.
    The custom of "drowning the shamrock" was common but has now been entirely done away with.
