- There are two acres of potatoes sown on our farm. Some years the crop is bad. The ground is ploughed and harrowed and then made into ridges or drills. When the ridges or drills are made, manure is out into them and spread for the potatoes. The potatoes on our farm are sown in drills.
The drills are made two feet two inches, and some two feet four inches, wide. Potatoes are cut into two and three divisions, and very few in four, for seed; the four divisions are not as good as the three.(continues on next page)
