- Myles O Reilly or Myles the Slasher is believed to have lived three centuries ago and to have been born in County Cavan.
It is said that he was a very valiant Irish Chieftain who often led his men against the English invaders.
He is chiefly remembered for his defence of the Bridge of Finea against the English. The monument which is erected at Finea in his memory records that in this engagement Myles both arms they having been severed from his body by a sword iyielded by a Scotman. Myles then took his own sword in his teeth and fought with it until he was exhausted. He then came to grips with the Scotman and they both fell into the river and were drowned.
