- There is a churn in every farmhouse almost and in every well work-mens house. The old fashioned churn stans abut about 3ft x 6ft from the bottom to the top and then measuring about 2ft x 6ins across the top and the same at the bottom but they are not so wide in the centre as it tampers into what is known as the chime this is the narrow part of the churn and where the top and bottom part are joined together.
