  1. SPINNING
    Miss Briody, Fore, Castlepollard, spins sheep wool.
    She is spinning yet.
    Mrs Flood, Ballyhist, Kells, also spins wool into yarn.
    Mrs. Maguire, Glenidan spins sheep wool on her spinning wheel.

    CHURN MAKING
    Mrs Lynch, Clonmellon, employs men to make churns. Joe Lynch, Ankerland, Castlepollard makes churns and tubs and wooden pails. He sells them in the towns of Oldcastle, Castlepollard and Mullingar. He makes them out of oak wood.

    BASKET MAKING
    Patk. Hannon, Cummerstown, Collinstown weaves baskets out of sally rods. John Coleman of Cooleighter, Drumcree also makes baskets.

    THATCHERS
    Edward Reilly of Mabestown, Delvin is a good thatcher.

    FISHERS
    James Lawe (?) and Henry Reilly of Drumcree are good fishers. They fish in Lough Deel with a net for perch.

    Mrs Brown of Drumcree was a good laundress.

    RUSH CANDLES
    The people in this district used to make rush candles long ago. They pulled rushes, took the skin off them, tied them in the eves (?) and
