- Folklore There is a gate in Mabestown call Hope's gate which is supposed to be connected with fairies. When the men were building the wall the fairies use to turn them inside out during the night and in the morning the men used to fix the walls again. The next night the same thing used to be done, and at last the men had to leave them the way that the fairies turned them. Fr. Martin was killed there while he was riding on horse-back. There is a big heap of stones marking the place where he fell dead.
