  1. This is situated on the road between Ballinlough Cross Roads and the Lodge. It is said priests were hanged on this tree in Cromwell's time. People do not like to pass it at night.

  2. At Ballinlough Cross-roads there is a Gallows tree. Some years ago a roadman placed his coat on its branches. Next morning he was found dead in bed. (L. Leavy, Shanco)
