    poem up about)
It came on in little black blotches on the leaves and then the potatoes decayed in the ground and it would poison the people to eat them. So when the potatoes failed them they had to eat oatmeal gruel instead and the pot it was Boiled in is in Tom Fays in Clonmellon and every one used to come with their little tincans for a pint of gruel. And as long as the potatoes lasted they eat them with salt and Butter-milk. And when the people died in Famine they turned black because of the war on in France. When the people got too weak to make drills they sowed the potatoes on the flat like oats and they decayed on them that way too. And all the little meal they had to sell it to pay the rent to the landlord.
