The Rath of Rathwire was supposed to contain a large crock of gold covered by a stone flag and guarded by a large farm-yard Cock.
A young man lived at Rathwire with his mother and dreamt continually about the crock of gold. He was told in his dream that at a certain time around midnight the cock walked in the direction of the Cross of Killucan, and that by going there at ther time he would discover the treasure.
