    soda, (ano) They were wet with buttermilk, and put on a pan with fat to bake. Oaten biscuits were made in the same way as oaten meal bread only they were cut out with a tumbler. A pot oven is the name by which the utensil used in baking the bread at present is called. Sometimes bread was baked on a grid iron. A Potato currant cake is made of grated raw potatoes flour, sugar and currants. They are mixed together, and baked on a griddle.
