- One of the acts of tyranny during the landlord days was to compel the people to work on Sundays and on holydays. In this district the day fixed for sheep-dipping by Fetherston, the landlord, was Ascension Day. Some of the people declined to work on Sundays and as a result forty families were evicted one May morning. Those people had no rent due. When the Parish Priest of the day heard what had happened he said that with all the land Fetherston possessed he would not have the width of himself when he was being buried, and neither had he because when he was being buried his wife's coffin slipped in and forced his coffin on its side.
