Obtained from J.J. Brennan, Tyrrellspass (age 40)The name of the local landlord was John Hornidge of Dalystown.
He had an under agent or as is commonly known a "rent warmer" whose name was William Payne or better known as Billy the Buck.
Billy used to go out into the tenants houses and count the number of chickens or ducks that were with the hens.
He would go over that evening or the next morning to the Landlords house and say " Your Honour" " I was in one of your tenants houses to day and I saw fourteen chickens with one hen and twelve with another hen and in the street was a hen with fifteen young ducks. I went into another house and there were six or even children sitting on the floor with a bag spread before them and boiled potatoes turned(continues on next page)- Collector
