  1. In the parish of Castletown and in the townland of Jamestown there are the ruins of an old church. It is situated about thirty yards from the railway. There are still the traces of the windows and the door. The church was left derelict about one hundred and twenty years ago. John Daly's father of Garthy served Mass there. This church belonged to the Jamestown estate and the priest was prevented from saying Mass there.
    There was another church about half a mile from the Jamestown church on the side of the Adamstown road. It was destroyed by Cromwell
