    Houses were more numerous in this district in olden times and there are a good deal now in ruins.
    A large number of people emigrated to Australia, North America, and to the Argentine.
    The land is good in some places but there is also a good deal of boggy land. The most of the land is under grazing and there is not as much tillage now as there was in former times.
    There is only one stream called the Mónadubh stream which rises in the hill of Creeve and turns the wheel of the mill in Ballinamill.
