them over the doors or on the walls in remembrance of St Brigid. On St Brigids Day people go to St Brigid's well on Usnagh.
On St Patricks day the people go to the public houses and drink to excess to drown their shamrock. On Good Friday people mark all the eggs with a cross and they are kept for Easter Sunday.
People are warned not to get into the water on Whit Saturday and Sunday for it is said that the waters are angry on those days. On Ash Wednesday it is a custom with the people to pin a little paper bag of ashes on old bachelors coat without his knowledge and tear one corner of the bag so that every step he would give the ashes would spill down his legs.
