- (continued from previous page)This road was made about 1600 as a main road but ceased to be such about 1800.
When Delvin road became the principal road, it was made by contract so much for each perch.
The stones of course for this road were broken by hand - almost all labour was by hand - scarcely any machinery being used.
Delvin road is now a main road since Fennor road became a "bye-road".
Delvin road is a continuation of the Mullingar road. It like the Mullingar road, is now made mostly by engine work. Engines being used in rolling in and crushing all the stones. Even the stones are broken by crushers so that little labour in the way of manual work is employed.
The road is much better than in former years.- Collector
