- One day there was a boy standing at a blacksmith's shop, and he was watching the blacksmith in amazement. After some time, as he would not go away, the smith held a piece of red hot iron under his nose, hoping that it would make him go. The boy said to the blacksmith that if he gave him sixpence he would lick it. The smith took the money from his pocket, and gave it to the boy. The boy took the money, licked it, and ran away.
