- There are some people skilled in the craft of basket making, straw and rush mats, rush candle, beehives from straw, ropes from hay, bóráns from skins, brooms from heather. Baskets are made from sallies interwoven together. They are made by John Baird of Rath. He makes hampers, creels and potato baskets. His uncle used to make them before him. They are nice, well made, strong baskets and they last longer than the baskets bought in shops. Tommy Somerset makes hampers(continues on next page)
