    Meanwhile the people who remained unburied by the roadside caused an outbreak of cholera. This spread through the country and followed the people who fled from Ireland to England or America. Many died on board ship and were thrown out into the sea.
    In time the famine and its horrors wore away and life went on as usual again. Old Mr Brabazon of Loughan remembered the famine and often spoke of it. He was seven years of age then.
