If she looks into the mirror at midnight she will see the wraith of her future husband looking over her shoulder. On Hallow-een too she picks "blackheads" (what you string mushrooms on) and plants them in a scráith (clod of clay). She puts one blackhead for each of her admirers. When she goes out in the morning whichever will have blossomed will marry her.
If she gets a small lump of lead and melts it she must pour the molten lead through the eye of the door key into a basin of water and the letters of the names of the maids future husband will be formed in the water.
They put three saucers on the table with clay in one water in another and a ring in the third. A girl or boy is blind folded and they put their fingers in each. If they tip the saucer with clay they will die within a year. If they touch the water they will emigrate within twelve months and if they touch the ring they will be married within a year.
