    was very vexed, so he threw the man down on the table off the rafters. He then told them the whole story.
    (b) One time there was a man who had a dwelling house in which no person could live, because it was haunted by a ghost. Several people said they would sleep in it. When the ghost would appear, he would say "no one here, only you and me." Then the person sleeping there would get afraid and rising up would go away.
    One night the owner of the house was talking to another man who was drunk, and he was telling him about the ghost. The owner said he would give five pounds to anyone who would sleep in it. This man said that he would not be afraid and that he would sleep in it. So he went to the house, opened the door, went in, lighted a candle and sat on the side of the bed because he was drunk. He took off one of his boots and threw it in one corner, and said "If you are there, come and take that." Then he took off the other boot and threw it into another corner of the room ; and said "if you are there, come and take
