    It was (the) there the musician was welcomed.
    His corner the best to be found.
    The house thronged around with the dance.
    And the rafters re echoed the cheers.
    How charming and gay were the maidens
    How bright and bewitching their smiles
    While love laden glances in plenty.
    Were exchanged in the usual styles.

    There are many across the broad ocean.
    Those bright merry scenes may recall.
    And many in the land of their exile.
    Will hear of regret of its fall.
    The valley looks as charming as ever.
    The hills keep their watch with a frown.
    The river rushes on to the Inny.
    And the house at the corner is down.
    Remarks:-
    The above was secured by Patrick Keena of Mullaghcloe, a pupil of this school. The poem was given to him by a member of the Rourke family who live in the same district. The poet's name was Patrick Rourke. He died at an early age.
