- John Maleady was a famous mower. He often mowed an acre of corn in the day. There was often a challenge between himself and the men of the neighbourhood. Maleady was always victorious. He was a very strong man. He had a dipper for teaming water out of bogholes. It was a big iron bucket with a big ash handle.He was able to left the full of it of water and it would take two others to left it empty. Maleady lived in Ballinlig bog, He died three years ago at the age of eighty years. He was buried in Ballymore graveyard.
