    It was quite common for men to walk to fairs in Mullingar, Tullamore and Ballinasloe from this district. Mullingar is twenty-one miles Tullamore thirty-eight and Ballinasloe twenty-four miles away.
    During the time of the Daniel Shooting a lot of people round here were sent to jail in Tullamore. A woman named Fox went from Bethlem to see them.
    My grandfather John Fox was able to jump the grand gates in Littletown ; this was very dangerous because it was spiked.
