- Churning 23 rd May 1938.
We have a churn at home. It is about four feet high and about a foot and a half wide. The churn is put on a stand and you work the churn with your hand and your foot. It takes an hour and a half to churn.
There are a lot of uses made of the buttermilk namely, it is given to calves and pigs. It is said that buttermilk is a very wholesome drink. There is also gruel, made from buttermilk and meal boiled; it is said to be very good for a cold.
