- We have a dash churn at home. It is three feet high and two feet broad. The sides are curved in. It takes a half an hour to churn with it. Three or four people take the dash in their turns and churn the milk. Long ago the people put a coal under the churn when they were churning to keep the fairies from bringing the butter.
