- Foxes forge is about a quarter of a mile from a cross-roads. Hynes forge has a slated roof. It has a floor half cement and half planked. It has a big wide door to bring in the horses. There is one fireplace in this forge. The smith uses a sledge, a hammer, a forge tongs, a pincers, and a knife. The smith shoes horses, asses and jennets; he makes spades, shovels, and slains.
