    the straw boys returned home and neighbours remained dancing and amusing themselves until morning. Then the bride and bridegroom retired to their home.
    There is no special period of the year at which marriages take place in this parish. Some people say May and August are unlucky months in which to get married, and it is also said that Mondays and Saturdays are unlucky days to get married. Now-a-days money is always given as dowry, but in olden times cattle were often given and sometimes land or a horse or sheep were given.
