This is a game that is played by the fireside in the winter nights, it is called, "Thimble appear." Any number can play this game, boys or girls. This game is played as follows - a number of people sit in a circle around the fire with their hands joined. Then one of the number gets a thimble between his hands and goes around on each person in turn pretending to drop the thimble into their hands. He might give it to one of the party or he might keep it himself. Then he would ask each of them in turn, who has the thimble and each of them would answer such a person has it and if they were not right, every one of them would get a slap.- Collector
