- A giant stood at the white gate of Ledwithstown in the year 1887 and threw three rocks over into Dimond Payne's field close by and at the same time he threw a rock into Paddy Feeney's field in Gurteen a distance of two miles and the track of his hand is in the rock. It lies in the field between the two schools.
- Maggie McArdles story is about the same rock. It is as follows: A giant stood near Athlone and threw the rock into Paddy Feeney's field a distance of six miles and the track of his hand is in the rock. It is a flat stone and weighs about a ton. This rock is called "the Giant's Rock".
