- There was another hedge-school in Cloonageer along the road beside a pool of water which is still to be seen. The master's name was Dick Leslie.
The house was built of mud and roofed with wattles from the bog and sods. On a wet day the rain often came down. The fire was on the centre of the floor and oftentimes the place was filled with smoke, and when it was the master put out the scholars. Each scholar was seated on a big stone.
