  1. Long ago the people had three meals a day. Breakfast, dinner and tea and sometimes when they had their work finished at night before going to bed they had another meal called supper. In olden times people used a good deal of potatoes, milk and oaten bread. They seldom used tea. There was very little meat except on certain feast-days some used meat and other dainty dishes.
Most of the people used side-tables which they folded up when they had finished their meals. The vessel in which the people used before cups became common were called noggins.
