Co. Longford - FortsThere are many Forts in this part of the country. There is one in Mimnagh's field of Clontumpher where I am told by John Clarke men and women were often saw going to it on horse back. John Clarke, Clontumpher that one evening as he was coming from work he saw a carriage with four horses under it going towards the Fort. There were about eight or ten young girls in the carriage and they having all colours of dresses on them. After the carriage there were forty or fifty men on horse back. He looked back five or ten minutes after but he could see nothing but that night there was great music in the Forts. My mother told me a story about a widow and her daughter whom the fairys good(continues on next page)
