“Heark ye the sound of the enemy is coming”
The following song was told to Patricia Masters by her father Joseph Masterson which was composed by Sean Connolly who was killed in the battle of the Black and Tans.
Heark ye the sound the enemy is coming
Heed ye the warning the Tans are at hand
They are loading down with booty while the song they are humming
The low scum of England
the D___ Black and Tans.
They are now leaving Granard
They set the town a burning
Their hearts over flowing with develish glee
On their way to the barrack
When home were returning
They met with the Rebels at old Ballinalee.
Some of the booty they now left behind(continues on next page)- Collector
