13th Dec; 1937.About ten o'clock on a Wednesday night, on the 4th November, 1920. Granard was burned by the "Black and Tans", English Soldiers. They marched down the Main Street in Granard, Co. Longford, and halted in front of the Barracks. Orders were then given to begin the burnings, and one house opposite the Barracks was sprinkled with petrol and set in flames. The occupants of this house had fled from it the previous day.(continues on next page)- Collector
