    Slanlus is an herb which is very common in this district of Granard, Co. Longford. People had and still have recourse to it for a festering finger; it is heated at the fire, applied to the sore and renewed until all the matter has been drawn.
    Garlic was always grown by the old people, and it was eaten by anyone suffering from a bad cold or sore throat.
    The dock leaf was considered very useful also, the seed of it was given when boiled to a horse suffering from a
