I live in the town land of Killeen in the Parish of Granard in the Barony of Granard.
There are about one hundred and forty people in that townland and nineteen families.
The most common name in it is Smith.
The majority of the houses are thatched.
Killeen is Coillin in Irish which means 'little wood'.
There was a little wood there but if was felled during the Irish civil war.
There are no old people in our district over seventy.
Houses were more numerous in former times and there are seven in ruins.
The biggest river in Killeen is the Camlin which rises in Granard.
Other townlands nearby are Clonfin which means 'Fair Lawn' and Culcor(continues on next page)- Collector
