The cart was loaded and the man prepared to start, but when he went for his whip the leash was all knotted up. The man was furious and says he to the lads that were helping 'which of you destroyed my whip'. They all looked and saw the state the leash was in- a whole mass of small knots. They swore all roads they had nothing to do with it, and of course, when he cooled a bit he knew well they hadn't. Throw down them stones, says he, I'll have no more to do with them. They emptied the cart and he started for home. Before he went many perch the leash was as good as new. The stones are there to this day for no one ever interfered with them since.
