Bread
Long ago the people used to grow four or five acers of wheat and oats and they would get the wheat made into whole meal and their oats into oaten meal.
They would make a cake with the whole meal and wet it with butter milk and they would not put any flour on it. They used to make oaten bread out of oaten meal and they would wet it with soft water and they would flatten out the cake and put it standing up against a few turf to bake.
The flour was made long ago from wheat.
There were a lot of kinds of bread made long ago as potato bread, boxty and oaten bread.
