Long ago a great jumper named Patrick Kelly lived in Toneywarden. One day he was at a sports and there was a man named John Brady and he put up a jump ten feet high and he said he would give Kelly six pounds if he would jump it. Then Kelly went back about six feet from the jump and ran to it and jumped it and Brady gave him the six pounds whilst he was cheered by all that were at the sports. One of the best swimmers ever lived in Toneywarden was James Stephson and he lived about a 100 years ago.
