About 38 years ago one Mr Mc.Goey left a considerable amount of money to be distributed in the best way to help the poor of the town.
The late Bishop Hoare was the custodian and he took the building, then the Town Hall, and started a Shirt Factory. It was then called the Mc. Goey Hall. This factory employed about 40 girls and made good progress for 12 years until the workers started a strike and it was then closed.
