- Hidden Treasure - The Crock of GoldLong ago people hid their treasure for safety. It is said that there is some treasure hidden in the avenue leading down to Loftus Hall Convent.It is not known who hid it there, but a man named George Cooke and Tommy White, both Slade men tried to unearth it. When they had dug down a little bit they saw the crock of gold, but a sudden gush of wind came and blew something into Tommy White's eye and he fell unconscious.
