Oh! blame not the men who for liberty perished
The fearless in heart who devotedly bled:
Long, long shall their memory through Erin be cherisd [?]
Long, long shall we mount o'er the shrines of the dead
They are gone, but around them a light is still burning
Like a sentinel star o'er young Libertys sleep.
And when from their tombs the bold peasants returning
His vows rise for freedom, low, noiselss, but deep.

In rain did the cold-hearted Saxon endeavour.
To darken those deeds on our history's page
For age's of bondage and suffering shall never
Erase one lov'd name from that chivalrous age
No, as well might they stem the pure felling still gushing
O'er hearts and o'er harp strings, by mountains and sea
As restrain that high patriot spirit thats rushing
In might ever millions resolued to be free

They failed where great Washington purchased his glory
Free Libertys light shall emblazon each name
Long. long shall we chant to the wild strain undying
The deed's of the dauntless, the bold, and the free
Who unto the last the fell Saxon defying
Where, true, on the scaffold, dear Erin, to Thee
