  1. Foleys fort is the name given to the farm-house in Balykerogue on the left hand side of the road going to Campile from the castle at Ballykerogue.
    This house got its name because
    (1) it belonged to a man named Larry Foley and secondly because it played the part of a miniature fort during an eviction in 1887. Larry Foley like many another farmer had been looking for an abatement of rent but he received instead a notice to quit. All the neighbours came to his aid and they decided to give the bailiffs a warm reception when they would come. They forthwith proceeded to barricade the house. All available iron gates in the locality were collected and placed as barricades inside
