  1. Years ago it was a custom with the old women to go to what ever mountain that was the nearest to them to get a certain plant called "Vervine" and when they would be pulling it the would say the folowing lines :-
    "Vervine, Vervine hire and renowned
    'Twas on Mount Calvary you were first found
    To cure the sick and heal the wound
    In the name of Jesus I will pull you from the ground"
    This plant was supposed to cure many bodily ailments and the old people had a great belief in it.
    Another custom with old women was that if a young child was visiting their house and if the child was not left before dark the old people
